• Breeding is thought to occur during most months of the year, and spawning (egg-laying) occurs in areas of flowing water as well as in stagnant pools.

• Generally, when an activity is likely to affect a member of a species during a particularly sensitive period for the species (e.g., spawning, nesting, over wintering, calving, migration) it is more likely to kill, harm or harass that member.

• Spawning occurs from April through August, with activity peaking in early July.
